Lets Celebrate Independent Retailers!!

Independent Retailer Month dedicates July to celebrate independent retailers across the country.

Independent Retailer Month encourages consumers to shop at independent retailers; highlighting their positive social and economic impact – local, nationally and globally.

Independent retailers are the backbone of our communities, the mom and pop shops adding diversity along the main street and the family-owned businesses where we come together to live, work, and play.

Whether you promote your independent retailer business, pledge to shop at independent retailers or rally your community to support the local independent retailers we welcome you to celebrate.

We encourage people to support and shop independent retail year around and use July as a time to unite as a celebration for the independent retailers across our country and in our local communities that help build our economy.

A dollar spent at an independent retailer is usually spent 6 to 15 times before it leaves the community. From $1, you create $5 to $14 in value within that community. Shopping with an independent retailer supports local traders, their suppliers and the people they depend on to run their businesses. Buying from an independent retailer boosts your local economy, rebuilding confidence in the community, enabling local businesses to prosper and grow.

When you spend $1 at a national chain store, 80% of the money leaves town immediately. When you shop with your local independent retailers you are doing your bit to keep your community ‘open for business’.

Bead Gallery has been busy over the last month.  We have EXPANDED! At the end of the year we decided to take the plunge and have opened a second location.   We closed the Scripps Ranch store after business on December 23rd and began a 12 day remodel completely changing the current location by adding and removing walls, changing out the carpet and paint. At the same time, we were busy setting up to the NEW Bonsall Store and taking a moment off for the Christmas and New Years holiday.  It made for a completely exhausting holiday season.

Both stores held their "soft openings" on January 4th and now that the dust has settled a bit we can finally make it official.  Our Grand re-opening and Grand opening festivities are scheduled for this Friday, January 31st and Saturday February 1st.  We will have some great FREE "make and takes", courtesy of Craft Fantastic, at both locations.  Debbie will be at our Bonsall store Friday and our Scripps store Saturday between the hours of 12:30-3:30.  She will be teaching you how to use their amazing products and give away the project pieces to the first 30 customers at each location.  Another sponsor helping us celebrate is Tierra Cast.  They have supplied us with goodies to give out to the first 40 customers who make a purchase during our grand opening weekend.  You don't want to miss this.  ALL Craft Fantastic products as well as Thunder Polished Chinese Crystals will be 20% off and everything else will be 15% off as our thank you for your business, support and encouragement during this process.

Finally, our Bonsall location will be having an official ribbon cutting ceremony with the chamber of commerce on Friday the 31st at 5:00.  Everyone is welcome.  Light snacks and refreshments will be served, we hope you will join us.

We'd like to wish all of the SCLBSA members a Happy New Year! We're excited about 2014 and what's ahead for everyone.

Beaders" Night Out is coming

Happy Holidays from Newbury Park!
We have celebrated Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and the beginning of Advent in the last 4 days. Wow!

This week the bead stores in out association will be hosting Beaders' Night Out. Most of the store will be holding the event Friday, December 5 from 5-8 p.m. This event is sponsored by Craft Fantastic. Please check with your local bead store for the exact time there.

At Creative Castle you can sign up for 4 different times: 5, 5:45, 6:30 and 7:15. This event is free for the first 20 people and $6.00 for any additional participants.Reservations are suggested but not required. We will be serving refreshments and there will be special pricing on this jewelry line from Craft Fantastic during the evening. Get an early start on quick and easy gifts.

For those of you wanting to make other quick last minute gifts but aren't quite sure how, we have a Beading Basics class, Thursday, December 5 from 6-9 p.m. Want to make a quick pair of earrings and learn how to "set" that special stone, Sunday, December 8, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. we offer All Things Wired.
 We also offer Traditional Knotting with a Contemporary Twist Thursday, December 12 from 6-9 p.m.

 Please call 805-499-1377 to register. We are also having a Trunk Show of Lampwork beads, Fused Glass and Metal Clay pendants Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. A Trunk Show is when an artist brings or sends a large selection of his/her work for a set period of time. This allows our customers a chance to select from a much larger assortment of merchandise that what the store can carry due to space and cost. What doesn't sell during the trunk show goes home with the artist. So come shop for that special gift for the beader in your life, or for the focal point of your next project or holiday gift from a fabulous assortment of merchandise.

Our new newsletter of classes and events for "Wing" is on our website. We only have 3 seasons at Creative Castle "Wing" (winter-spring), "Sprummer" (spring-summer) and "Finter" (fall-winter). We also have some copies available at the store for your convenience.
