We are proud of one of own members!!

The National Retail Federation (NRF), the world’s largest trade association, has provided a platform for over 80 years that allow retailers across America to speak with their lawmakers on Capitol Hill during its annual Retail Advocates Summit. It is held with the sole purpose of bringing retailers together with one voice and advocate on policies that affect the retail industry, be it online sales tax collection or credit and debit card swipe fees.

As part of the Retail Advocates Summit, the NRF hosts America’s Retail Champions, an awards and reception program honoring Main Street retailers. This year they have chosen 50 Champions, one of which is Scott and Wendy Remmers of Brea Bead Works. They will travel to Washington DC to attend the Retail Advocates Summit on July 28-29, 2015 where five finalists and one Champion of the Year will be selected based on their experience of advocating for retail in their hometowns and outstanding work in their industries and communities.

Scott and Wendy opened Brea Bead Works in 2002 with the goal to provide their community with a full-service bead store offering a broad selection of quality gemstones, crystals, hand-made glass beads, and other unique finds for customers to experience and have fun with. They also developed an expansive curriculum of jewelry making classes that assists in achieving their goal to educate, inspire, and share the art form of beading. In previous years they were recognized as one of the “BEST” bead stores in the nation by Bead Style magazine, a Kalmbach publication and one of the leaders in the beading industry.

In 2011, Scott and Wendy helped to establish the Southern California Bead Store Association. Scott has been the President of the association since its inception. The association’s main objective is to support and promote brick-and-mortar bead stores as well as build solid relationships with industry distributors and manufacturers.

In 2013, Scott and Wendy helped to establish the North America Bead Association (NABA), a section of the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA). He has been the Director of NABA since its inception and is an advocate of bringing all segments of the bead industry together, under one forum where the promotion of ethical standards and business practices are discussed and furthered.
