A message from Scott at Brea Bead Works

Our blog is getting active with postings about bead projects and trends. I have the opportunity to post information about our store, Brea Bead Works, but I want to take this time to talk about the biggest event going on right now in the bead world. It’s the Southern California Bead Shop Hop. We are so pleased to bring you the largest Bead Shop Hop in the United States.

Even though there’s one more week of the Bead Shop Hop, the bead store owners in the association want to “THANK YOU.” The association has built the Bead Shop Hop to highlight member’s stores because they’re all so different. The owners and staff of each store appreciate you supporting the locally owned businesses.
These stores are here to educate and inspire your love for beads. We understand in today’s world you have many options to buy from, but please think about visiting your local bead store before you purchase on-line or from a catalog. While the stores can’t carry every product available, the stores can meet your every day needs. Many of these stores have trunk shows featuring quality products not normally carried that spice up the stores selection. They do this for you. If you don’t see what you’re looking for please ask. The stores are interested in hearing about your needs and if they don’t carry that particular item they will refer you to another store that might have it.

As stated by a movement called the “3/50 Project” the idea is to think about three locally owned businesses in your community. Now imagine those businesses gone! Your favorite restaurant, spa, or even favorite bead store. Gone! You would be sad. Now go visit those businesses and say “THANK YOU.” These businesses are there for you. If you spend $50 or more at each business per month you would make a huge impact to our economy and effectively keep your local economy strong. It would keep people employed, keep retail spaces leased, and the majority of the tax money will stay in your local community, which is definitely needed these days.

 2012 Beader's Night Out Project
Our goal as an association is to bring you events like Beaders’ Night Out, which is our opportunity to thank you for your support. We offer special Make N Takes and fun promotions. We also offer a jewelry design contest called “For the Love of Beads”, as well as other exciting events. Our mission is to offer you the best customer service, fair prices, and a creative and inspiring environment to be nurtured in.
Happy Beading!!

CT's beads n Things

WOW! What a great weekend we had being part of  the Bead Shop Hop. We were very excited and working hard to get ready for this event.
We were so happy to see all of the returning shop hoppers that have done the shop hop for 3 years now. (Can you believe it has been 3 years?) It was very exciting to meet all the new shop hoppers that decided to join in on the fun. Everyone was excited about the movie themes, ours is Avatar and yes we do paint our faces like avatars and have long black braids.
We are so happy that there are so many hoppers that decided to participate this year. We appreciate your efforts in coming to meet us way out in Lancaster, we know it is a long drive for you. We also want to thank all the shop hoppers for supporting us and all their local bead stores. Where would we be without you?
Well that's all for now, we need to get ready for this weekend of shop hopping. Hope to see more hoppers.

What's new at Bead Gallery....

-->
Bead Gallery is so excited the Bead Shop Hop is finally here!!  Starting this Friday, September 7th, we are participating in our 3rd annual Bead Shop Hop sponsored by SCLBSA (Southern California Local Bead Store Association).  We can’t wait to see our customer’s faces as they walk into our store and see the transformation.  If you have never participated in a Bead Shop Hop before, this is a great year to start.  This year there is a movie theme and without giving away our selected movie, you’ll just have to stop by the store and see it for yourself!   We will be offering goody bags to anyone who makes a $15.00 purchase, plus lots of raffles and prizes just for stopping by.

Also, just in time for the Bead Shop Hop, we have ALL Czech glass beads on sale for 20% off and we just received a new shipment of more Czech Beads today.  We have a semi-precious trunk show going on now that’s worth checking out as well.  We’ll have free demo’s and several free classes available throughout the month.   Check out our Facebook page for updates on the free classes.

This year is significant for our store.  In December we will celebrate our 10th anniversary! Once we have the Bead Shop Hop behind us we will begin planning the celebration festivities for this awesome accomplishment.  We hope you will join us for that. Keep any eye open for upcoming events to celebrate this milestone with us. Check out our website, join our email list and like us on Facebook for the latest updates on our store.

The SCLBSA San Diego region participated in a “Beaders Give Back” craft donation drive. We collectively received beads, craft supplies, monetary donations as well as new items on the “Wish List” from The Polinsky Children’s Center of San Diego.  We had an unbelievable response from so many of our wonderful giving customers. Thank you to all our customers who gave from the heart.   Many of them brought in bag loads of craft supplies, fabric, buttons, beads, new products and many NEW items from the “Wish List”.
